Calm People Stress Conflict & Anger Management | Calm People

Why Calm People?

There’s a lot of talk about emotional intelligence, emotional resilience and managing your emotions both at work and home.    It’s clear that knowledge and skills are not sufficient to help us get through the tough aspects in our lives.  We need to cope with those stresses and emotions that hijack our capacity to control and manage our lives.  Finding the right course or approach isn’t easy. There are generalist counsellors offering support to individuals, business consultants providing advice to organisations.  What makes Calm People different?

Great organisations develop, change and adapt over time and this is the case with Calm People. The original initiative started with Julian Hall & Paula Backen as a result of them working together at the British Association of Anger Management. They both felt that there is so much more to emotional resilience and personal development than simply dealing with anger and conflict.

Julian and Paula brought together a unique combination:  large corporate business management, public sector experience, specialist communication therapy, and training with the British Association of Anger Management.

Calm People’s approach is practical and realistic but based on extensive experience alongside a wealth of theoretical foundation.  They do not use just one theory but utilise a full toolkit including Jungian theory, Neurolinguistic Programming, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Transactional Analysis, and much more.  But don’t be put off by all these titles – they have filtered the useful and most appropriate tools to help you, in the most practical ways. It’s not full of jargon but real tactics and strategies to help you find control and calm in your life.

All courses are interactive and enjoyable.  If you don’t find them so, we give you your money back!  Seriously – take a look at our money back guarantee here.

As Calm People has grown more successful Paula has been drawn into other areas of work that utilise her speech and language therapy experience. As a result, while she continues to run programmes in organisations and see a select number of one to one clients, she no longer offers the Intensive Weekend Workshops from her base in Birmingham. These and a whole lot more continue to be offered through Calm Head Quarters in Derby and across the country.
